FAQ

Can you match my existing paint colors?

Yes, we can match just about any paint color in your home using a chip of paint or wet sample. Even if you don’t remember the original color codes, we can still match the color perfectly.

How often should I paint my house?

The frequency of painting varies depending on your home’s location, local climate, surface types, and environmental factors. On average, most homes need repainting every 8 to 12 years. Homes with more sun exposure may require painting more frequently than those with abundant shade.

If damage is found during the project, can you do the repairs?

It depends on the scope of the damage, but generally yes. Whether it’s dry rot, drywall, texture work, or other issues discovered during your project, we can typically handle the repairs.

Do I need to be home while the painters are working?

No, you don’t need to be home during your painting project. We can use a lock box for your keys, or one of our foremen will maintain them for the duration of your project. However, we do like to have someone present at the start to walk you through our process and at the end for a final walk-through upon completion.

Do I need to move my furniture before the painters arrive?

We prefer all furniture and personal effects moved prior to starting work. If you need assistance, let us know beforehand and we can arrange to help. Please note: we do not move fish tanks, pet enclosures, pictures, or electronics without a release of liability.

What types of paint do you use?

We prefer Sherwin Williams paints over their competitors. They can match any color you provide and deliver exceptional quality and durability.

Can I buy the paint and only pay for labor?

We can acquire paint products at much lower prices due to the quantity we purchase and our relationships with paint suppliers. In most cases, it will actually cost more to buy your own paint. If you still prefer to purchase your own materials, please bring this up during project planning. Keep in mind that Artisans Choice Painting does not guarantee customer-purchased products.

Is there a warranty on my painting project?

Most projects come with a one-year workmanship warranty. This means if we missed something or didn’t paint it properly, we’ll return at no cost to you. Keep in mind that damage from moving furniture or other accidental impacts is not covered under warranty.

Who goes first—carpet or painters?

Generally, paint goes first. It’s more cost-effective for you because we don’t need to add costs for masking off floors. However, we’re fully capable of working after flooring installation if your project requires it.

Do I need to paint exposed wood right away?

Yes, you should always have raw wood treated in one way or another—whether primed and painted, stained, or sealed. Exposed wood is susceptible to insects, moisture damage, and rot.
